Pausing your lessons

How to pause your membership:

We know how tricky life can be, that's why we've made it easy for you to temporarily pause your membership if needed, offering different pause options to choose from that best fit your needs. Here’s how:
 

How does pausing work?

 

 
 

Available Pause Options for You

1️⃣ Regular Pause: A regular pause means no payment will be charged for the month, and no lessons will be credited. However, your package duration will be extended by one month.

2️⃣ Summer Break: With a Summer Lesson Break, your unused lessons are saved as credits for later use, and your membership remains active with payments continuing as scheduled.

3️⃣ Paid Pause: A paid pause works in a similar way as a regular pause, with the key difference being that a specific fee is required to activate it, and your package duration is extended by one month.

1️⃣ Regular Pause

⏸️ When a regular pause is activated:
 

  • Your next payment will be skipped, and no lessons will be credited for that month.
  • Your package duration will be extended by one month.

 
 

2️⃣ Summer Break

⏸️ When you activate a summer break:

  • Session expiration for June, July, and August will be paused until the November charge date.
  • You’ll be charged as usual, and sessions will still be credited to your account.
  • The package duration will not be extended by one month.

 
 

3️⃣ Paid Pause

⏸️When you activate a paid pause:

  • Your next payment will be skipped, and lessons for that month won’t be credited. Instead of paying the full amount, a small fee will apply to activate this option.
  • Your package duration will be extended by one month.

⚠️ Please note:

  • Paid pauses can only be activated more than 5 days before your charge date.
  • You can purchase a paid pause once every 12 months (meaning at least 12 calendar months must pass since your last purchase).
  • Paid pauses are only available for memberships of 6 months or more.

Your regular pause credits:

The amount of times you’re able to pause your membership is based on the length of your contract:

3 months = 0 regular pause credit

6 months = 0 regular pause credit

9 months = 1 regular pause credit

12 months = 1 regular pause credit

18 months = 2 regular pause credits

24 months = 2 regular pause credits

36 months = 3 regular pause credits

 
 

Your paid pause credits:

In the UK, you can activate a paid pause for £20, which lets you temporarily pause your membership.

3 months = 0 paid pause credit

6 months = 1 paid pause credit

9 months = 1 paid pause credit

12 months = 1 paid pause credit

18 months = 1 paid pause credit

24 months = 2 paid pause credits

36 months = 3 paid pause credits

 
 

Your summer break lesson credits:

The number of times you can take a summer break for your membership depends on the length of your contract:

3 months = 0 summer break credit

6 months = 1 summer break credit

9 months = 1 summer break credit

12 months = 1 summer break credit

18 months = 1 summer break credit

24 months = 2 summer break credits

36 months = 3 summer break credits

 
 

 

 

First things first:

 

Make sure you’re logged into your GoStudent account, and that you’re looking at your individual lessons. If you need some help with that, click here.

Now follow these steps:

Step1 - In the top right-hand corner click on your name

 

 

 
 

Step 2 - From the menu that appears select “Membership”

 

 
 

Step 3 - Select “Pause” to activate a regular pause

 

 
 

Step 4 - A confirmation box will appear to obtain your approval. If you wish to proceed with the pause process, click "Pause Membership''

 

 
 

Step 5 - A confirmation screen will appear to confirm that your membership has been paused

 

 
 

For Paid Pause

Step 1 - Click on ‘’Purchase Pause''

 

 
 

Step 2 - Confirm by clicking "Purchase & Pause"

 

 
 

 

 
 

Step 6 - Your membership will now show up as paused
